Not sure if this is in the correct section Hard drives or software...

I came upstairs to play a game of bf2 and noticed the computer was BSOD :(

Rebooted and now one of my HDD's isn't working it is showing in "My Computer" but when I try and open it I am told It needs formatting :( it is about 3years old maybe it's age but I would really like to get files back What are my options ?

Not sure if I should be talking to a Mackem j/k :)

Scenario suggests failure, now failure is usually in the supply ... look at the back of the HDD, there`s a circuit board fastened on by some T8 Torx screws. Self explanatory, buy another HDD that is identical, swap it over.

Then again, could be the platter arm doobleefurkins. Bit more tricky, you`d have to replace this from the portions of your brand new HDD you`ve never used before .... depends how valuable this data is though, eh? Big screw in the middle of the platter, tek it oot.

Tricky, yes but you can get some quotes from some companies that can take ure HDD and give u the data back .... it`ll cost you over 800 spons, and seeing that ** a Mackem, u`ll be as tight as 2 coats of paint anyway ;)

j/k m8, hope I`ve helped :)

Not sure what happend but it seems the BSOD was the problem I had to format the HDD managed to get very little back off it :( good job the laptop has almost the same files on

Well, I`ve suffered a lost HDD in the past and I faithfully back up to DVD treasured data and feel your pain m8.

But it seems like u have backups on yer lappy, lucky u and lesson learned ;)
