Dead HDD

Hey guys i have a hard drive thats completly dead i have tried getting it to run as a master and as a slave using 4 different computers different IDE cables going through bios settings etc etc BIOS doesnt even see it on any computers ive tried... My next step is to buy an identical drive and swap the printed circut board and hope that works. I have never done that before but i really need the data off the drive as there is important work files on it and i dont have the money to send it to a data recovery specialist. any advice on how to run through this process and or other possibilities on how to recover the info from the drive would be greatly appreciated. in the mean time im back to googling for more info ... thanks in advance for all the information

At this point i dont know of any other options than to try this, However I am doing all i can to ensure the HDD i buy is the same by model number, make of the HDD, that its a product of malaysia, and firmware code. All other ideas welcome and thanks in advance again for all info.
