dead MacBook Pro

I've got my grandmother's MacBook Pro to do something with, and not being an Apple owner I need some pointers. It's a 2009 Intel 15" model and wont boot at all, there's no lights on the battery indicator and no glow on the magsafe charger. Is there meant to be some led lit on the charger when plugged into mains but not the unit? Not sure if I can check whether its the charger or some issue with the logic board? Otherwise think its going for parts.

Could just be the charger if you're not getting a light.

Got another you can try with?

I'll see if I can borrow one this week - does the light normally stay on when plugged into AC all the time?

Indeed. It'll go orange whilst it's charging, then green when it's fully charged.

Either way, you'll get some activity to say its getting juice.

Hopefully an easy fix.

I'm sure if you popped in to an Appl estore if you have one local, they will have somewhere you can plus it in, to see if you can get a charge and a light from the charger!
