I know this should be in monitors but I find this forum to be the more helpful.
Any way I bought a new tv and have a flickering/half deaed pixel! I heard if you rub the pixel it may fix itself, am I mad?
Any advice much appreciated.

I remember reading something about being able to resolve dead pixels, by displaying a random patterns on the screen. Do a search on it ;)

Yes you can get a little freeware app like a screensaver for this purpose - it cycles through different colours but apparenly you neeed to let it run for ages for any chance of success and success is not a given.

Probably best to run it when you go out for the day.

Return it under DSR if under 7 working days If you got it online...despite some companys saying that you can only return with certain number if pixels dead is rubbish as you do not need to give a reason as to why you returning it.

True, but if you do try to return it under DSR for a dead pixel they will reject it, as they are alowed a certain number of dead pixels and it is not classed as a fault.

If you return under DSR you will have to think of another 'reason' for the return, the colour of the case looked different in the picture, or something.

DSR allows you to return it for absolutely no reason. It has to be returned in the condition it was sent (e.g. boxed, not used), so you may have to argue the odds.

has a bunch of applets to try and remove stuck pixels, i tried using it for around 5 hours on a laptop screen at work with no avail, but thats not to say it wont work. my tv has a pixel which will get stuck from now to then (about 3 times in a year) and it seems to go away after a week or so of watching TV
