Dead PS3 :(

I cant believe my hardly used PS3 is broken

. It wont read any disc at all. I have formatted it and done every possible thing to try and fix it but its completely dead.

So tomorrow I think I will pop into town and buy a new slim 120gb model, what do I do with my old broken PS3? Dont name any competitors as you may get in trouble, but can you answer if any of them will buy a faulty PS3 off me?

send to sony for repair if not buy a replacement blu ray drive should be had for about £50-£60 from a well known auction site.

is it the 60gb version?

As others have said, you may be able to get it repaired for less than it would cost to buy a new one.

Its the 40 gb one. I have tried the recovery menu and that didnt help either

. I am a bit worried about being sent back a refurbished PS3 and having 3 months warranty with it. I think its around £100 for Sony to do this for me?

I see people quoting £150 for Sony to replace it with a reconditioned PS3. I'd sooner just buy a slim if I was in that situation. You would probably get £50+ for it on ebay.

In exchange for you broken one which could be sold so it's costing about £200. Not worth it.
