Why can't i start off from where i was last time i played? It wasn't that far in but i've been dumped back to the start of the game AGAIN..but with my levels up a bit.

Quite annoying.

You can save your progress in the bog. Check the mini map thingy for bog locations. Also some areas like the Gym have a locker which you can save in.

If you die however, you can (iirc) load your last save, or you can choose to 'save and quit' <- which means save your current levels etc, and restart the entire game from scratch.

The save system is odd. You can only have one save at a time.

So if you died and hit the wrong button you will have saved your level but NOT your progress. You should have selected load from last save point!

How do i save and then load my game next time i play? Continuing on from my last save i mean.
Save in a bog. Then when you start up DR in future, you can continue from there.

Once you save the game you will get the option to continue or quit, make sure you select continue or next time you start the game is will start from the beginning

This is my pet peeve with 360 games. I wanna play til i'm bored then hit start and save from where I am. Ive played a lot of games that make you finish a level before you can save or run around finding save points.

If not that you get about 1 or 2 save slots. WTF is a 20 gig hdd for. It was better on my sega master system.

The best save system for a while in the 360 games I've played it Marvel Alliance.

Toilets, security room and the gym all let you save your progress. It is a bit of an odd save system but doesn't really cause any problems once you know how it works.

It's nothing to do with being on the 360, it's the game makers who have done it. They could have given you as many save slots as you want, but they didn't for whatever reason they deemed necessary.

Well I can only speak for the 360 and pc games. I've never had a problem with pc games hell you can usually just quick save anywhere regardless of whose devloped it.

Its got so that I cant say to myself " **** my wife will be back in half hour I will just do some of level 3 then when she gets home stop" Because i will be halfway through and searching for a save point.

IMO the problem with xbox and in general console games is that they have to cater for a completely different audience, and IMO that means dumbing down the tradditional "skills" that you mind find in a PC game.

That means they end up with stuff like reduced save points to make it artificially harder.

Take Dead Rising as an example .... Absolutely **** easy, theres nothing in that game that challenges me in a traditional sense. I destroyed every single boss in about 10 seconds, and surviving is a **** take. I completed the game and got the true ending in my first play. The only "difficulty" i experienced was fitting things in around the games enforced time-line and awkward save system. (imo this relates to the fact the console has an inferior control method among other things like the average console user is about 12)

I find with PC games dont need to have those stupid "cockblocks" because the skill level required is a bit more.

The bigger problem is that if you allow people to save the game where they want and start from there, it brings back the quick save and quick load problems. Where is the fun if you can save it 1000's of times, just before anything hard. Besides, in a zombie game, it makes sense that you can only save it in a safe place, away from zombies.

You would be amazed how much effort has to go into something so simple as saving.

The save system in Dead Rising is a little odd, but so long as you don't select Save and Quit (as I did many times) you'll be fine and it works as expected.

its always a fine balancing act getting the saves right

if you have the old F5 quicksave its no challenge as you just save every 30 seconds..do something wrong or miss something, well its no great loss..just load it in again

then you had the old resident evil saves..god i gated those stupid typewriter ribbons

RE4 had a good balance with enough to keep you going without it being too hard or too easy

same with Far Cry on the PC...checkpoints instead of quicksaves

as long as the checkpoints are not TOO far in between it gives you just enough og a challenge without it becoming frustrating

so its not the console thats at fault its the games designers
