Picked up a 2nd hand B550 off here, a perhaps exdisplay(?) (unused cooler and very clean chip) Ryzen 3600, and new ram from OCuk. System was working and stable before for HTPC use (I3 6100, H110 board), new Thermaltake PSU 6 months ago, old GPU rx460 powered by motherboard, old Samsung 750 sata SSD.

Switched all parts over, computer restarts near after signing into Windows. BIOS is stable, as is log-in screen. I cannot reinstall Windows on the machine as it just restarts, used a USB ISO from MS website.

I had stability once via using a single stick of RAM and played a video for half hour+ then shut down. I cannot repeat this with the same stick or setup. Stick was a Vengence 4gb 2133 at 1.2v (default settings).

I get no POST beep from the speaker, but can confirm the speaker works as i tried no GPU and got the no video card beeps.

Motherboard LEDs light up then all off.

I can get nowhere near Event Viewer anymore, be that lack of patience, but previously it showed nothing of relevance. Lots of yellow triangles about no internet, critical from bad shutdown, but nothing to indicate why, or anything that gives me anything to Google.

I've tried:
CMOS reset. Battery out.
Different GPU from another PC.
Different RAM from another PC. RAM checked new RAM in another PC.
RAM in various slots, single stick tried.
Minimum clock speed available in BIOS.
XMP enabled or disabled.
Sleep modes deactivated.
Minimum amount of cables possible. Board is running outside of case on dining room table, wooden floor etc.
Reseating bits various times etc.

What i've not tried. And will try as and when. Kinda just picked away at the resolutions inbetween doing other things.
Install Windows onto SSD via another PC, then try.
Safe mode.
Try CPU in other PC (this is obviously the golden resolution, but the most annoying one so last resort and probably tomorrow's job).
Different HDMI cable.
Different SATA cable.

Said spec:
Ryzen 3600 (box was unsealed, but appeared unused.) The CPU was supplied like this as what i bought was a sealed 2600, but seller had none left so asked if i wanted this instead. Feedback from other 2600 sales and other sales all positive.
MSI B550 PRO VDH from forum. To be considered as fully operational. Only a few months old.
Teamgroup RAM, but other RAM used, so yeah...
Samsung 256GB Sata SSD 750.
Thermaltake BM2 450W

Any opinions on this one? TIA

personally id look at everything before the CPU.
i have had at some point just about everything die in a pc but never the CPU.

if it dose or did post as some point for me its a setting of some sort.
remover everything that's not needed to get to bios. unplug sata, fans, RGB, take it out the case and boot on dest. GPU CPU and cooler

I've done all the available options i know of now. Thanks for the inputs. Started a new thread in the MB section as CPU and PSU appear fine.

What gpu do you have? I have have so many problems with pice4 are you running a riser cable in the case?

I had random black screen, no posts, perfect boots. Ever type of crash under the sun. It was all to do with pcie4 I had to set pcie3 in bios and it was about 50 power on’s before I got to bios.
Even now if bios resets for any reason it defaults to pcie4 and it gos again

Isolate your testing. First thing is to usb boot to memtest and test memory for errors. You can even get a version of linpack that boots from cd/usb and test direct outside of windows.

Also take into account that zen2 has high failure rate so it may just be the cpu

Rx6600 and rx460 (motherboard powered), no riser cable. Whilst the pcie thing is strange, will give it a go tomorrow, thanks

Worth a go as i don't know if that could pick up a lane or dimm issue? I tested the ram in another machine and it's on the compatibility list. Also switched round the CPUs on both machines and ran Cinebench a few times, i've kept the CPUs switched round to rule them out. Thanks
