My OCZ 60GB OCZSSD2-2VTE60G has dead today.

It was working fine when turn my monitor off (I was downloading something at the time), but when I turned the monitor back on, my screen was blank.
I restarted the PC and noticed my "C" drive wasn't showing, my storage drive and DVD player (all connected via SATA) were fine.

I've swapped the SATA & power cables around, removed the battery from the MoBo and reset the CMOS and also tried the SSD drive in a caddy connected to my Laptop, but it seems to have stopped working.

I bought it from another site, 13 months ago, so I guess it's out of warranty.
Is there anyway of wiping the drive, if for some reason I can get a replacement ?
It seems unlikely that I'd be able to wipe it, if it doesn't work.
I don't want to send the drive somewhere, when there's a chance that my data might fall into the wrong hands.

Should I just smash it and buy another or try and get it replaced ?

Thank you :)

I doubt anyone will be looking to get your data when you RMA it to OCZ. If its something really really sensitive or *cough* then i'd destroy it, however i think your fears are unfounded.

Thank you all for you help and replying :)

Should I RMA it to the company I bought it from (in the UK) and let them send it to OCZ or just deal directly with OCZ in the Netherlands ?

Try the company you bought it from first but they may refer you to OCZ as your now outside the first year. You'll have to post it to the Netherlands if the company won't process the RMA.
