I've had my Synology Diskstation DS410 for a couple years now, and it's been working completely flawlessly. One a few occasions, I noticed that the wake on lan took a couple attempts to connect to the Diskstation (HTPC or PC tries to connect, then it will not find the server. Then trying it a second or third time, it will connect)

One day, it just stopped connecting entirely. The blue power light at the front keep flashing.

I've had a bit of a google around, but can't quite find a step by step troubleshoot online, and I'm hoping the friendly folk around here would know.

Has anyone else here experienced the same, or know what the issue might be - would hate to think that the thing's completely dead?

A friend had this on their ds212j; I had a look at as far as I could tell it was failing to initialise after boot up (probably casued by a power outage). I solved it by removing the HD, but making a note of which bay they were in, booting the DS with no disks and leaving it a while. It then responded fine, could be seen on network and modified etc; power cycled a few times to make sure its OK.

I then turned off (obviously) put the HDs back in the exact same bays they came from and turned on; left it again for a while and then all seem OK.

I think something got corrupted/stuck somewhere but doing this solved it.

Ah brilliant, will give that a go.
Did have a couple power failures in fact, so could have been that.

Will give it a go this evening, thanks mate.

Happy days - turns out the Diskstation was perfect, one of the drives threw a wobbly - but I'm running the Synology Hybrid raid and it could be repaired :)
