Deadpool 2

100% will watch, not even a question. Loved the first one a real breath of fresh air. (sick twisted immature humour :P )

loved the first one, I am sort of nervous about how good Deadpool 2 will be because I don't know how it will improve on the first one. The first one was brilliant because it was different.

Imo it'll be the same sorta thing with more characters. Reynolds was made for the part though, bit like Jackman as Logan. Looking forward to it.

I think it really followed a comic book style too - the complete lack of need to fulfil a template of humour made it feel as it was funny without feeling forced.

I am quite concerned now. Tim Miller the genius director behind the first one had left the production last year, rumoured to have creative difference with Ryan Reynolds. So it is going through a do over, hopefully Fox hasn't started their normal meddling to failure.

Ooops!!! That's a worry.

The story is a bit more involved than that. Miller wanted to make a serious, big budget, effects/action laden movie like other big superhero films. The scriptwriter (who also did the first movie) and Reynolds said this wasn't really a Deadpool film, and wanted to do something more in keeping with the first film and be true to the comic character. Personally, I think it's a better way to go than trying to force Deadpool away from his core character traits.

I can see why Miller wanted to go in that direction. After the success of the first one, most of the "didn't know who Deadpool was before the 1st film" movie go-ers will want to see the sequel get bigger, have more effects CGI and just be bigger/louder than the first. So Miller was thinking about that vast majority of cinema go-ers rather than the relatively small group (in comparison) of actual Fans who realise that making that sort of film doesn't fit the Deadpool style.

So while I'm a fan of keeping it like the first, I could see a potential "non-fan" backlash after it's release if stays exactly the same "low-ish budget" style as the original, which would kill off any chance of a third film.

Tim Miller actually broke his silence and came out to clarifiy the rumours to the net.

"I just want to say one thing to the geek audience out there, because it’s important to me what the geeks and nerds of the world think because they are my brothers and sisters. I didn’t want to make some stylized movie that was 3 times the budget. If you read the internet — who cares, really? But for those of you who do, I wanted to make the same kind of movie that we made before because I think that’s the right movie to make for the character. So don’t believe what you read on the internet.

I wish them nothing but good — I hope it’s great. I hope it’s a great movie. Because I love the character and I think it’s great, and I love all the actors and I want to see them successful again. I haven’t met [director] David [Leitch], but he’s a great guy from everything I’ve heard. I want nothing but the best for the character. And for Fox, too. They deserve to make more money. They need to make more money [laughs]. They were great. They were terrific."

Reynolds in a interview with GQ wouldn’t comment on the disagreements that led to Miller’s exit, but he concluded: “All I can really add is that I’m sad to see him off the film. Tim’s brilliant and nobody worked harder on Deadpool than he did.

Sounds to me it was a falling out and a clash of ideas. Cable casting was another issue too.

^This. Not sure a sequel is going to feel as 'fresh' as the original.
