Deadwood

I've got to get round to watching this, i watched most of the first season on TV, but have had the 3 DVD sets for about 1-2 years waiting to be watched properly.

Loved all three seasons of this, but as has already been said it's such a shame that the forth season was canned (I seem to remember that the studio only wanted 6 episodes, but the makers wanted to go for the full 12 - or nothing). :(

Would be wary watching it now, knowing that it has no real ending. Be a bit like having made Fellowship & Two Towers, and not bothered with Return of the Knig!

another fan here :D

watched the 1st episode on off chance once when i was bored and got hooked instantly.

watched them all about a year ago and just about to go through them again once ive finished true blood.

on the first episode of s3 , will be truely gutted when this ends, the best series ever created without doubt in mind , and i loved the wire , sopranos etc.

the acting and writing is genius, mcshane proves he is at the top with pacino and deniro in terms of acting for his portrayal of al swearengen, and its a damn fine history lesson too ,not only in deadwoods history, but how a democracy gets born

edit , damn ,4 days off a perfect revival year

Remember The Guardian's Top 50 Television Dramas Of All Time list that was posted here the other month?

This wasn't on it.

Unbe-*******-lieva-****-able.

It wasn't The Wire, but it came pretty damn close.

Not when every second word is **** or ****. :p

Ian McShane is superb in it. Who would have thought we'd ever see Lovejoy say the bad c word? :D

Aye lol! I have to use those to form sentances afterwards in my head. The biggest offender has to be Calamity Jane (drunk cowgirl?), and the fat hairy barman in the Gym. I can't understand a word they say.

Yeah completely, I forgot about her. She looks so different in real life, I actually found her character quite vile to begin with.

*Gym=Gem - The Gem

My joint favorite show that HBO have put out alongside the Wire.

*edit*

Has anyone else noticed how many people from Deadwood have turned up on Lost?

Just watched the first series. It's a mind-blowingly good programme. Probably my favourite TV show ever, alongside the first 2 seasons of 24. (These two are good for different reasons; I'm talking in pure enjoyment terms).

Sorry for bumping this, but for anyone reading this - you've got to watch it, it's great!

I really really struggle to enjoy any TV set in the past, I have nothing against it on principal... I just can never get into it. I might give this a go sometime though, see if I can finally find something to break that.

Just finished watching the third and final series. Extraordinarily good acting, comedy, dialogue, script, violence, sex, swearing, pathos...anything you could want from a TV show. Cannot believe they cancelled this one yet aired the frankly terrible, 'The Pacific'. Ian McShane is a legend in this show. I also loved W Earl Brown's performance.

Late to the party as ever, this show is AWESOME!

Just started season 2 this week and loving it.

Aye me two, been watching it slowly over the last few months. Cant belive this got canned, the dialect is pretty hard to follow sometimes but its a very well polished series!

SWEDGIN!!!! :D

I absolutely loved this show, was gutted when it got cut.

Ian McShane was absolutely awesome in it, loved the dialogue... infact I think I'm due to watch it again soon.
