Dealing with a feral cat

Surely trapping the cat and taking it somewhere else is just moving the problem rather than solving it, you're just allowing it to hurt someone else's cat. That's probably how it got near your house in the first place if no-one near by owns it.

i was just thinking of that earlier, better to solve the problem rather than make it someone elses.

Pee all over your garden and the offending cat to show how alpha you are. You may also want to pee on your own cats so the tom knows they're your property

There will be lots of local cat sanctuaries in your area. Most of them capture ferals where possible, neuter them and release them again as they will not be able to cohabit with humans in most cases. Some feral cats are big enough to attack and seriously hurt dogs so I don't think I would be going after one myself.

What does it matter that it can't understand?

Same reason you don't hurt your own animals outside of a serious injury situation. It matters that it doesn't act as a deterrent because it doesn't know it's wrong. It will just know that sometimes if you catch it doing something it will be treat badly.

Id pitch up camp in your house. When the cats in your sights pummel it with paint balls! use your own cat as bait in your garden.

anyone said kill it with fire?

tbh call RSPCA (tape the call so we can laugh at you) then wee around your garden.
