Whoever it was who deleted my thread asking about ripping DVDs.

If it's not allowed, how come a search turns up PAGES of the same question?

I'm happy for it to go if it is indeed illegal, but can we have some consistency and clarity here?

Ripping DVDs is not legal. I can't comment on consistency though.

Most of the other threads, maybe all?declare it to be self made DVDs or at least don't say films.
Did your thread specifically say it was films. In which case it's illegal even for personal use in most cases and will be deleted. If its ripping self made DVDs or something similar, that talk is fine.
