Debaging a Vectra C? - Any advice?

OK, I've gone and brought a practical car for long distance travelling across europe with large boot space, A 6 month old Vectra 1.9 CDTI (150) SRI.

But with my last Vectra, everyone looks at the Griffin badge, and says things like, 'what is it?, a Skoda??'.

Hmmm very amusing....

Well, nothing against Skodas, but it bugged me a little, so I was wondering if anyone else has ever debadged a new Vectra, and how?.

Thanks.

If I had a Vectra I'd be grateful people mistook it for a Skoda.

It would be like having a Honda and people keep asking if its an Audi :p

LOL, I expected a reply like this.

Don't knock em (off the road that is!), they are good work horses that don't attract too much attention, have reasonable running costs, are comfortable and perfect for a family. Yes, we would all like nice sports cars, but sometimes practicality is the prime consideration.

Granted, I'll never be carrying out any uber mods on this car, but a little badge removal and I'm happier. Just trying to find out about it before wishing I hadnt bothered.

They could be glued on or they could be held in place with pins (can't think of a better word atm).

Heat up the glue with a hair dryer then get something like a credit card to get in between the glue and the badge, then just pull it off.

I found that T-cut helped get rid of the rest of the glue.

Perhaps the best thing to do is grow up and don't get hung up on the badge, if you are that bother about it why did you buy a vauxhall in the first place, i don't buy the people looking at the badge thing, you simply don't want to be seen in a vectra, which is understandable.

I've known people use the hairdrier method with dental floss before.. fairly risk free on the scratch front, and at least your bonnet will be plaque free if it goes wrong :)

I've removed a few badges with gentle heating and a credit card to slide under them, don't go too mad.... if you want specific Vectra C advice, goto www.vectra-c.com

Not at all it just seems stupid to be hung up about your image yet buy a vectra, if i change my sig for my other car would that make you happy

I actually don't like the size/placement of the VX Badges lately, they ruin the 'clean' appearance of a large panel..

I didn't buy the 'skoda' excuse either, reading between the lines I think he just wants to make his car look clean, like virutally every pug306 I've seen lately, and why not, it makes the car look better..

But it's not about being ashamed to drive a car, you just wanted to get a rise out of him, which is trolling.. :p are are you seriously suggesting that removing the badge would in some way disguise the car.. people may think its a ferrari or something without that Vx badge.. cool.. :p

Your sig is your own, you do what you want :p I don't quite get why people like to make a public association of a run of the mill car with themselves, but each to their own, there is nothing wrong with mediocrity :p

Exactly what is removing the badge going to achive, i just hope to god he got the new shaped vectra which is actually a very good car.

Anyways i've removed badges before and stuck new ones on, best to heat it up to softern the glue then use some dental floss or fishing line to remove the badge, since the car is only 6 months old the colour under the badge should be the same so i wouldn't t cut it, use some tar remover or similar cleaning product.

It makes the car look much 'cleaner', its a common 'mod' people do to lots of cars, remove all the large 'awkward' looking badges, and just go for a clean/subtle look, it can make a big difference..

The New vectra is OK.. it isn't a million times better then the old car, we hire plenty of Mondeo's and Vectra's, and apart from it being a bit better to drive with more turn in, more feedback, etc, it is largely the same car.... amazing how the press can sway people opinions so wildly.. but then if all you have to go on is the press, I can't blame you for that, I've never seen such a turn-around as they have done with the Vectra..

Actually I do lots of trips up to Glasgow and Aberdeen about a 940 mile round trip, i've used both the old and new vectra, the new one is hands down better to drive, anymore wild assumptions to make about what i have or haven't driven / read?

Main reason I want to remove the badge is that everytime I wash the car, it catches the cloth, sponge, duster and rips it, and I like the look of a clean panel better than the big round thing on the back.

OK, and the fact that in Poland they think it's some sort of new Skoda!, I admit it, I'm hung up on the Skoda bit!!!!! LOL :D

The front looks like it can't be de-badged, but I have had an idea of some sort of subtle lighting effect, like an eye, but first I need an old projector lens ;) then again, I'll probably just leave that bit as the missus might have some words LOL, how about a subtle glow linked to the revs!. Maybe it just sounds like a bad idea.....

And yes, I do have a new face lift model :) with the improved suspension etc.

Yea good call, they look so much better than stock, not cheap mind :(

Mate got one for his Bertone Astra Coupe was around £250 :(

Yes, the badge is part of the front grill, and I got a 6month old car with 4000 miles from new, A1 condition inside and out, non smoker, from a vauxhall dealer saving over £6000 on a new one!, Actually 2/3rds of the price of a brand new one!, why buy new!!!.

Granted, I could have bought lots of alternatives, but by the time I finish with this car, it won't owe me anything!, and I actually like them, as a service engineer, I spend lots of time driving long distances, the boot space is great, plus being lanky, the leg room is also great etc..., Hated french cars, they are great if you have short legs and a deep wallet, the servicing etc on french cars is HOW MUCH!!!!, didn't wan't a beemer for the same reason, can't complain about Honda, damn good car, but parts! Ouch!!!. so went for sensible, comfortable and won't attract attention.

Yea we had a good look at pre reg new shaped ones, ended up going for a pre reg (5 miles on the clock) Honda Accord 2.2 Sport for 15k which is just under 20k new.

We almost ended up with a vectra but prefered the Honda (Extra cost aside).
