So I had a crack at taking the casing off one of my monitors and managed it ok. I also discovered my monitor had the VESA holes into the metal frame inside, unlike some which have them in the plastic outside casing. Which is good, as it means I'll be able to put three of them on some kind of mount rather than trying to Picture Frame them.
So from this..
To this..
Its not a massive difference, but I reckon its worth doing to the other two monitors. Need to work out my mounting method next.
Viewsonic VX2260 stripping instructions (this will void your warranty and you could break a working monitor)
Flip over
Undo the four screws holding the desktop stand on
Remove the screws completely
Push a very thin bladed screwdriver between the casing pieces, making sure not to push it in too far or hard
Slowly work around the frame, undoing tabs until both halves of the plastic casing are apart
Remove the back
Undo the screw holding the buttons
Unclip the speakers
Unclip the PCB with the power and menu buttons on
Carefully remove the front plastic
Put the metal cased insides face down on a towel
Need to get some strong glue to permanently bond the electrical gubbins box to the LCD panel frame.
