Debit card for a 12 year old

I know! Weirdly their child saving account pays much less than their child current account. And according to the blurb there's no limit on the balance.

Is this an instant access account?
Think the bairns might need to open up an acc, they wouldn't pay CGT either would they?

I got my boy a barclays account when he was 13. Can use it like any visa card. I just standing order him money every week. He can withdraw cash, use it online etc and has access to the barclays app to keep an eye on balance etc.

Check out Rooster Money if you want it linked to tasks, chores etc. I imagine they all do this now.

All these accounts charge a fee, so alternatively, a supplemental card as mentioned earlier isnt a bad idea.

Times have changed. When I was a kid I got 50p a week from my Dad.

It is good that kids are getting used to electronic money. A big problem a lot of adults suffer is that we can easily over spend. Spending £10 via a card is easier than getting physical coins and notes out.

My 16 and 14 Yr old boys have santander 123 kids accounts. Easy to open online. They're content with them.
