Will I be ok if i make a payment, THEN go to the bank and put the money in? I read that if you put the cash in before 3pm the same day that you wont get charged for not having enough money in the account. Will this work?

PS - im with lloyds tsb.

With my bank ( co-operative) as long as your balance at the end of the day is correct you arent charged. I wouldnt count on it being the same for all banks though!

If you deposit cash onto your card at the Post Office, it is usually credited the same day.

As above I would immagine the transaction would be declined but I think it depends how the transaction is procesed, I've had chip and pin declined due to lack of funds but not online payments etc.
Certainly happens with direct debits from my bank account but I just pop in and deposit some cash. Happens coz I'm paid every four weeks and the direct debit is monthly (ie. the 11th of every month) so can be misaligned.

Before 3pm is fine with Lloyds TSB, it's probably a bit late to say this today though :p But for future reference, it's fine.

If they allow the payment all they've done is authorise it - your available funds will fall to zero but you won't be in overdraft yet.

That happens when the charge appears on your statement and will normally be 1-3 days.

Also Lloyds don't charge you any fee for going into overdraft if you come back into credit the same day.
