Debit card transaction

I need to pay rent and deposit for a flat and was wondering if I would have any problems doing this in a single transaction of around 2000 quid with my HSBC Maestro debit card. Not sure if the bank would allow this big a sum :confused:

Why dont you call them and ask?

Cant see it being a problem tho

Won't be a problem, but they might need to so an extra step for authorisation from the bank.

You'll most likely have to be there in person to speak to the bank to get it authorised.....

Why not just get a bankers draft?

I've bought my last two cars on my debit card, didn't need to do anything other than sign the receipt as usual.

My bank was fine with £860 coming out of my Maestro card.

Only be a problem if you don't have the cash, then the bank gets all stroppy.

It shouldnt be a problem. At the very worst, they might give u a call to notify u that a larger than normal amount of money is leaving your account.

Also, £2k is a lot of money for 1 month's rent and a deposit (which i presume is the value of 1 month's rent). How much are u paying per month for this property u r renting?
