Has anyone thought about this or made tweaks to Windows to improve performance?

I feel there are some frustrating things, the security centre, always downloading Candy Crush and Windows update constantly updating and no way to pause it crippling my internet.

I remember back with XP there was XP Lite or something to debloat an ISO then install, anyone used anything similar for Windows 10? Or anyone followed any useful guides or got tips on what to disable?

CCleaner will remove the bloat in the apps menu, or start is back can also do it, I use both, I hate the Windows 8 and Windows 10 Start menu.

There is a piece of software by O&O which will remove it all, tweak the registry, get rid of all of the spyware and all sort, its free, I just cant remember for the life of me what its called.

EDIT: LOL just after posting this I found it, O&O debloat: https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

I used to be on the Alpha testing team for nlite back in the XP days. I don't use it with 10 because of the way the windows updates work in 10, the big updates are essentially service packs.

ShutUp10 works well.

I doubt it is coincidence :p Windows 10 has so much stuff going on in the background when it feels like it.

On my Windows 7 system for instance only Creative.SBConnect and one of the Firefox instances uses much CPU time during normal desktop operation then a little bit from DWM which is pretty expected. On the Windows 10 installs I have there are a dozen or more processes using the same or higher amount of CPU time - a lot of them completely irrelevant to my usage.

I probably should invest some time into slimming down Windows 10 using some of the stuff in this thread but I tend to just use Windows 7 as much as possible instead or get irritated with 10 and end up using my phone for mobile stuff (instead of a tablet) unless I really need Windows.
