Debt letters sent to wrong address

Don't show a random person your documents. Don't get into any conversation with them whatsoever. Just tell them you aren't interested and close the door.
It all depends how quickly you want the problem to go away and if you don't mind mail and people turning up at your door for somebody who doesn't live there. If anything, the more you resist showing the debt collection company anything, the more suspicious they'll probably become.

Weird i just rang the agency and told them no one here of that address and they stopped sending letters. Saved me having to post back letters hoping their work experience boy would get around to updating a database.
I guess we all deal with different levels of competence.

It's worth remembering that a debt collection agency are the same as any other company or organisation. They have no special powers beyond trying to get in touch with someone. Even then they need to adhere to certain protocols (there's case history regarding that).

Of course, it's different if a CCJ is issued against you or you are asked to fight a debt in court and lose.

Even if it's a CCJ, it isn't valid if they have the wrong name of it :D
