Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask this but does anyone know of a decent place to get a computer desk? i'm not entirely sure what i'm looking for to be honest, i'd quite like a corner desk but all the ones i've seen haven't really been big enough. I'd also like it to look smart and sturdy not like some of the metal frame work ones i've seen which looks like they'd fall to bits as soon as you put your pc on it lol.

So any suggestions? thanks!

inb4 Ikea Galant.

Seriously though, look up second hand office clearance places, they tend to get stock in dirt cheap from clearance jobs, as a result you get something that is more than fit for purpose and for a great price.

Ikea desks will be massively suggested here as they are just the best :) Malm and gallant i think they are which are most recommended. :)

For new perhaps? I have an argos one at the moment due to size but we have ikea furniture in the household and it seems pretty well made.

Im unsure were i could find a 180cm long desk for the same price unless i did it DIY tbh. Im aware 2nd hand u can get some amazing bargains as im forever on look out for a nice corner one from liquidation center near me but never seem to see any

Do a search for piranha desk on the rainforest, theirs are really well made. I have glass corner one from them and couldn't be happier.

I feel they are just an easy product to recommend, as a lot of people have heard of them and a lot of people can either reach an Ikea or receive delivery. Although I see your point about new vs used, I don't see the point in suggesting new when it is such bad value compared to used!

An idea from the OP of a price point he's willing to hit and does it have to be any set specifications in size, heights etc will help a lot tbh.

If u need extra's i.e cable management holes or trays u can add them later easily

That is true, the modular system they offer is very, very good!

Just looked at them piranha desk's and some of which i've seen are nice but just not big enough unfortunately and Ikea ones are.. well, pants. From what i've seen on their site lol.

Unicorn, as for my price range, it all depends on the desk itself. not really looking to spend more than £600 on a nice one. but if i come across one i feel i couldn't live without then i'd probably increase what i'd be willing to pay.

Well your price range is certainly higher than an ikea desk, Im unsure were you could go with that money and get something to be fair also

Obviously if i can avoid spending that much it would be great, but i just can't find a decent desk. I know it sounds silly, but i don't exactly know what i'm looking for.
None of the desks i've seen so far have jumped out at me.

Ikea Butchers block.. a couple of legs.. a tin of danish oil and bob is your uncle.

Result: A nice stable solid wood desk with plenty of legroom. for under £125

Ikea if you want something cheap and simple, otherwise have a look about office furniture websites and see what you can find.

If you don't see anything you like then my advice would be to find a local carpenter and see what he can build for you, although it can easily become quite expensive.

Not an Ikea fan by any stretch of the imagination but the Gallant is a fantastic desk. Very sturdy, a big surface area and cheap. I'd certainly recommend it.

The Galent desk from Ikea doesn't look too bad actually, shame it's not actually available on their website. and if it is, i can't find it lol.
Had a look at some pictures of it though and it's not bad at all for the price, very spacious.
