I have a HP Slim line PC and im using it on my TV as my media PC, its nice and everything, but I would like to be able to play some games on it some times (playing DoD on a 42" LCD is the nuts!)

It currently has a 7300 in it and im running it to the tv with a DVI to HDMI lead+adaptor.

Can anyone recommend a good low profile graphics card that will handle the 1366x720 res well with games?

Has to be NVidia as i find the ATI software dreadful to use and never keeps the settings I want it too...

yes sorry its a pic-e, off the top of my head theres a good amount of space length wise, thats not the problem, its only the fact its low profile! (small bracket etc...)

just another quick note, if there is one that has HDMI out that would be brilliant!

I really wouldn't rule out ATi because of that. It's obviously something you're doing wrong yourself as most people have no problem using the software and indeed I find it better then nVidias. I've had 2 ATi and 2 nVidia cards over the last two years so I've had enough time to get used to them both and I just like ATis catalyst layout better.

Dont get me wrong, im sure to some its ok, and to be totally honest i havent used the newer software, its been about a year since i used ATIs software. I used to have one plugged into the same TV, but it would never output the correct HD res, had to go with 1024x768, not the 1366x 720, which made everything look streched!

I dont think there's anything much better than your current 7300 that is low profile.

And ATI 3450 or Geforce 8400GS are about your only options, and these wont really play any decent games very well.

depends on how good you want, if you were willing to go and have a external radiator then you could get a water cooled 8800 which are very low profile, otherwise a n800 ati will be your best bet :) with a custom low profile cooler instead of the stock cooler!

they dont make 8800 in low profile? or at least i've never seen one.

unless you're mistaking low profile as the thickness of the card and not the width?

Thats a low profile card, notice the length of the bracket...

Spot on! Some of the above discussions are pointless. I'm looking for a good Low-profile HDMI card as well for my HTPC. Any recommendations?:)

From the pictures, some the lower end ATI cards (2400, 2600, 3450 and 3650) seem to have a low profile PCB but a full size back bracket. Do any of them come with a replacement smaller bracket?

Even if they dont you should be able to put it in, its whether or not it has any connections that would stop it being put in. if it has the standard bracket but looks similar in width to the picture i posted (but say with a VGA on a cable on the left) then the VGA can be unplugged and i could use the bracket on the card i already have, even it its slightly different could always buy one from ebay or make one from a blanking plate.

I got a HIS ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO the other week which fits into a slimline case but i had to make my own backplates as the only backplates i could find the VGA connector is down the bottom but the lead from the card to the VGA is to short to fix near the bottom so had to make my own

You can get a 8600GT low profile (also comes in a low profile bracket). But they are pretty expensive.
