decent modular 1000watt PSU?

So what your saying is theres no point in planning on owning faster hardware in the future because theres use for it at the moment? This time next year there will definatly be applications that could use quad core properly (especially seeing as theres a push for developers to develop multithreaded applications now). The graphics cards of today will not cut it then an 8800 gtx sli rig probably wont play the biggest game titles with every graphical feature on, do physic's and do it at 1600x1200+ res's.
Just look at requirements to run vista with full dx10 and HDMI support. Then look at what's required to run exchange 2007 on top of that. I really dont see whats so wrong about thinking about the type of hardware you will be wanting to use in the next year and then based on what you expect to use plan your upgrades with that in mind.
Plus isnt it getting a little off topic, I simple wanted to know if there was a modular 1000w psu with 4x pci-e connectors and a decent cable lengh. What I intended to use this for is up to me, if I wanted it as a paper weight surely thats my own business. After all I never put forward the spec of what I wanted the psu to eventually run untill people asked what I intended to connect to it.

oh I definatly spend way to much on my system but given the amount of entertainment I get from it thats fine by me 
some people spend it on warhammer stuff, some people spend it on car's, expensive holidays etc. Everyone has their own interestes.

what you say is correct in that this time next year there will be more multi-threaded applications out that will make proper use of quad core technology! you have also contradicted your own arguement saying this as by this time next year new hardware will be out and your quadcore will be old tech and cheap as chips! so why not get c2d now that's more than enough for most people, clock it to silly heights then when this time next year quadcore will have dropped largely in price and make it a better investment!

The system im planning for this is just my main one, used for high end gaming and work as well. In gaming it will be running an sli setup of 8800 (though only buying one at a time), for work im often going to be doing a lot of virtualization and running serveral operating systems at once. Its not something im building all at once but I want to get a new psu anyway, plus im getting my first 8800 at the end of the month, so I would rather get a psu that fits my future expected upgrades.
I have just used the 850 watt model in a Lian Li 2000+ and the cables are plenty long enough. By the way there are 4 PCI express connectors.
I would do that if I was upgrading my cpu etc now, I probably wont be upgrading my cpu and board next year anyway. The only thing im buying now is a single 8800 and a new psu, the only reason I buying a psu now is because the cables in mine are a little short so the insides dont look very neat, I only had the idea to buy a psu now that would work with what I want to have next year instead getting a model now that wouldnt be enough for that aim and then replacing that as well next year as well.
Peg: cool nice to know the cables are long the seasonic's ones while good just look plain ugly streched over the case instead of being tucked around the sides.
