Hey Chaps.

I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.60GHz (800FSB), GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit, but need a really decent, stable Motherboard I can use with the above.

Anyone have any recommendations? Looking to do overclocking as well.

Just swapped my Asus P5N32-SLI+ out for an IP35 Pro, maximum oc on the Asus was 3.2~ with the IP35 I've just got 3.6~ stable on an E6600. Well pleased, and reckon it's still got more to give.

The Nforce 680/650i NB sticks out loads of heat, and I think the Asus cooling solution is weak. The NB heatsink was scaldingly hot to the touch after 30 mins usage whereas the IP35 is cool to luke warm and that's at 400 fsb. The Asus was a good board with plenty of features, but I'm very much of the opinion the IP35 is a much better overclocker whilst retaining the same features and build quality as the Asus.

Also as Eisenhorn mentions the Abit being P35 powered is 45nm friendly, the NForce chipsets are partially compatible with the new duals if what I've read is correct.

Go for the Abit, you won't be disappointed.

Hey Eisenhorn.

Abit IP35, Seems a good motherboard also in my price range of £85 notes. I've had a good run with ABIT Motherboards in the past never had a stinker from them.

Will it take the Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.60GHz (800FSB), GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit, directly out of the box?

Yeah Abit say the E2140 is supported from the very first BIOS (10). It should be fine with the Geil too.

Sounds like a decent Motherboard to me, Does it support the Quad Core CPU's like the Q6600 as I may upgrade later and one last thing can anyone recommend a decent Air CPU Cooler.

the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro should be moe than enough for an E2140.
For an extra £8.23 (+120mm fan of your choice) . . .

Thermalright Ultra-120A CPU Cooler

£25.84 inc VAT

The price on the Thermalright cooler now makes it a much more attractive option, it really does give the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro a good kicking! I've used both and there is no competition, in every way the TRU-120 is a superior product. . .

Yes Abit IP35 will support your current CPU and Memory and also current and near future 45nm Quads. Plenty of overclocking options in the bios and stable and reliable too.

It also has plenty of features onboard i.e. RAID, HD Audio, SATA3G, Gigabit LAN and Firewire.

If he's going to spend ~£30 on a cooler plus fan for a £45 CPU then he may as well look at the Tuniq Tower at £27.01.

Yeah thats a good suggestion actually Cob!

I've not used the Tuniq but I gather its very comparable with the Tru-120?

I think we both agree that while you can scrimp a little in the CPU department a few extra quid spent on a nice cooler is a few extra quid well spent. . .

Good recommendations there fellas. I've already got the CPU and Memory and the Motherboards you've now suggested i'm looking into now at getting along with the coolers.

Cheers Fellas.
