Hey all could someone point me in right direction please for a decent optical cable please. I know there is various types. Will be looking to replace the one that came with the Canton dm55

Just get some cheap ones off the bay, they don't need to be expensive. Being digital, they either work or they are broken. You wont get a superior quality of audio by purchasing an expensive cable.

This website must be a joke surely? Who would pay £1400 for a power lead?

Obviously you don't understand electricity.

If you buy cheap cables all the electric gets stuck in there.

Here's a chart I found that explains it very well

Bought mine for £1.99 but it's went up to £5.99. I'll need to buy it again to get the upgraded version :D

I just got some fisual Hollywood optical cables and the quality is spot on, can't see the point in spending any more.

The biggest gain you will get by spending money on an optic cable from a "reputable" company is build quality, better fitting plugs and rounded polished ends as examples to help with use and longevity. Sometimes more bend radius before breakage.

The majority, whether £5 or £100 are usually using the same medical grade plastic fibre and same old toslink plug that is not designed to support the weight of thick heavy cables.

I have had a few, once one of my faves was a shiny VDH cable, Optocoupler, cost a bit, looked well made but it stopped working one day, yet my old 2m piece of string I got with the old Technics SL-PA10 still works. Was there a difference in sound, hmmm......... even though I have an active imagination, I cannot for a fact state I heard a difference. Well, once I thought the bottom end was more detailed with the VDH but that could have been placebo.

I have QED where optics are used now, it was on discount as Tesco's once, plugs and build looked reasonable, job done. I like the look of Lindys too, simple, lightweight, no bling and a 10 yr guarantee.
