Anyone been to any nice little restaurants on/around Hampstead High Street?

Looking for something nice and romantic, good quality food, not too expensive, don't fancy paying more than £30 per head (no wine menu needed).

She doesn't like spicy food so that's off. Don't need dessert either as planning to go for a world famous crepe after at the stand.

Also, any decent bars here to go for a drink after? The only bar I went to there before had closed the last time I was there.

Cheers me dears

Only places i go to regularly these days are Goldfish (Chinese) and Gaucho Grill (Argentinian). Both a bit pricy though.

You could try the Horseshoe (Gatropub), nice bar/pub but i've never eaten in there so couldn't comment.

TBH i rarely eat in Hampstead Village and always go for a curry down the road at South End Green.

That does look very nice actually, might end up in there. What's it like inside? I take it smart casual is the norm? I don't want it to be too up market and formal.

To be honest guys, I'm not sure. Our family has a flat near there (Spencer Walk, opposite Waterstones). The place has been there forever, and my dad nearly always goes there when they're down for a night and need to eat.

It's quite old fashioned (both decor and service - I doubt it looked much different inside 20 years ago!), and the place is very small on the inside, but the food's always good. As it's so small, I'd probably recommend booking. Maybe if you live near there, might be worth shoving your nose up against the window and seeing what you think! Smart casual would be the norm - I'm sure I've been there in jeans and a shirt before.

EDIT: Just noticed they have some reviews/pictures they've nicked off some other website - but I guess you'd all seen that! http://www.villabiancanw3.com/about_us.htm
