Decent socket torx bits

The torx bits are the weakest part of the halfords tool range. Why the hell they thought something the size of a t50 would need a hollow core is beyond me.

When I've been changing drop links or similar with torx heads involved I've undone them with the grinder.

Yeah, but antitamper stuff is usually t25, t27, t30 sized stuff. Up around t50 is where heavy leverage involved.

try and find something that is S2 steel, apparently its harder, ive had a set since forever, used it with impact guns, hammered torx and spline bits into things, without marking them

the set i have is made by laser

That's odd I'm pretty certain my larger halfords torx bits are solid? Certainly never had any trouble with them - I bought the t30+ ones individually maybe that's the difference?

If you break a Halfords professional tool you can get it replaced for free, I've done it with a few smaller bits I've mangled :D

The hollow centre ones are security torx aren't they?

Yup, Sometimes referred to as TR25 rather than T25 for example.

I'd recommend Snap-On, or Mac Tools. Will be able to get them online easily.

Also, was the bit the the OP snapped 3/8" drive or smaller?

A hollow core doesn't have much impact on the strength of a bit anyway. If they are actually snapping then I suspect they are simply a bit over hardened and brittle.
