Decent Space games?

Waiting for star citizen has got me needing to play some space games I picked up EVE online for £3 but its EVE! Can anyone suggest some decent games that will pass my time?

I like Combat and being in control of the ship in some form or another, not really an RTS player but wouldn't mind giving one a go I suppose still play Homeworld 2 from time to time with modded HD textures.

Beautiful graphics a plus but not completely essential

i have X:TC from a humble bundle might have to install ! Does anyone know if mods work with the steam version?

Thanks for all the replys if you know of any more keep em coming I cant be the only one with an addiction not being for-filled

So I tried out X:Terran conflict ... my brain hurts that was so confusing , virtually no direction given or anything after the tutorial O_o maybe i missed something

Currently playing the early access steam game Entropy. Still in the earl stages but the patches are making big improvements all the time. A decent range of ships and there will be lots of missions - they have just introduced passenger and cargo deliveries. Lots of trading and combat opportunities but will be even better when more players are on onboard.

speaking of HW2 I got it working with Win7 not too long ago and installed about 10 mods, one of them being a super high res texture pack and different Starwars/stargate etc mods , They even took the time to re-do bits of the storyline and add in their own missions It's brilliant!

Now playing mass effect 1 with 4k textures pack and super Anti Aliasing it's beautiful.

Going to try out FS2 asap though and report back
