Hi,
After a long hard think  i have decided to get the above case,my only concern is i have an Asus A8N32-SLI motherboard and this has the large copper heatpipe fitted. Will this make any difference to the cooling of this heatpipe if the board is fitted into the V1000 case? ie inverted.

Thanks. :)

It will as the heatpipe will not work correctly, mainly it is trying in reverse.

Usually this just means it runs a bit hotter than usual, but should not be a problem.

If it is look at changing the cooling solution to a aftermarket one instead that does not use a heatpipe.

The problem is this board is 32X - 16 + 16 is has 2 chips not one like most SLI boards which are 16x 8 + 8 & only have 1 chip.

Plus the heatpipe keeps the board nice & cool, think i'll look for another case.

The major problem with a zalman cooler is that it will block the PCI-E Slot if you have a GFX Card with a big cooler (Arctic cooling, ATI X1800/x1900 OEM cooler etc)... There is a way on some boards to use the second PCI-E Slot as primary but its a bit of a bodge.

I know what you mean. We did this though but as there is no direct airflow over the heatsink from a front case fan the chipset gets very hot when its cooled passively in that chassis.

Going by the A8N premium board, running it upside down just makes it toasty.

The Gigabyte K8N Pro Sli is in my opinion the best passive board at the moment, after having tried them all in the v1000+.

(Passive, not using heatpipes)

I'm going to give the V1000 a miss, what do you guys think of the Antec P180 SPCR,i like the look of the case but have heard problems with panel's warping & bad build quality. My other choise would be the Akasa Mirage but they wont be here till mid June.

Forgot to say i already have the Asus A8N32 it's in my Eclipse case at the moment.

They can have that issue, it is slightly to common for it to be one off and I have seen it happen for myself.

BUT

It takes about a year for it to happen, most dont have it happen and Antec made a fix. If it does happen, they will send you a new door in under 7 days usually!

PSU cable length is the only niggle with choosing the bits, but you can always use a extension cable as was said in another thread.

If you check the case central archeive there is a huge thread on this case :)

Hi Yewen, had a read through that last night and the power supply i have OCZ Powerstream is fine & reaches ok.So it looks like this will be the case for me as soon as it's back in stock :)

Bah, one step ahead.

Have nothing to do so was going to have a hunt for you, spoil my fun why don't you :p

Yeh should be decent, always the Eclipse but it does have a nasty plastic front, although personally I prefer it to the P180 due to it looking butch, short and stocky. :p

Good news, so it will be available to buy in 2008.

The eclipse is as old as the hills.

Origianlly a Globalwin case, then a Savrow SR71, then the Eclipse, now going to be the Mirage.

Oh my, it sounds like a ATCs design story :(

The P180 is deffinately a nice case. As said though, doublr check that your power cables are long enough, especially the 4pin power cable. Once everything is in its a great case, but I can't say that the buil was hugely fun, due to the dividing compartments making everything really tight.
