Hi guys,

Instead of consulting regular people, I'll ask the wise members of OcUK instead :)

I'll keep it as short as possible - graduating in June with a BA in Humanities and Social Science - big whoop right? Now I haven't applied myself throughout the course but had several personal problems that I wont bore you with and I've recently made several big changes in my life. Anyway, I'm contemplating my imminent career but my prospects looking fairly bleak as a result of my poor degree.

So, I'm faced with a choice - start an Economics MA, I could gain entry into second year at edinburgh easily enough. OR, start a career of some description. Now I've worked out that a degree would cost me £3600 in tuition, 3 years of work experience and £13000 in student loans. I guess what it comes down to is.. is it worth it? Do you think 25 is too old to begin a working career?

no if you think you made a big mistake in your career choice
and want to alter its always worth it . My brother was a mechanic for a ford dealer in hull he got bored and at the age of 33 went on Plumbers course 20 weeks .now he is trained up and earning twice as much has he was doing a mechanics job
and the course cost him £5000 +Vat including corgi
i know your is going to be a longer term thing but yes if you want to change your direction i say goodluck to you
and hope you reach your end goal
:D :D

i thinking of doing the same thing soon and i am 38

If you do the MA make sure you apply yourself fully this time. If you do then that's the best option I'd say.

How good of a degree are you graduating with?

You could take a look at some diverse graduate programs if you graduated with a high-ish grade.
