Declaring French speeding tickets to UK insurer

Whilst in France in May we picked up a speeding ticket (45EUR). Authorised speed 110km/h, adjusted speed used 111km/h. Bit harsh I know.

We are going to pay the fine and I know that we won't get points on our UK license but the question is whether or not to declare this to our insurers. I am not sure if it was myself or my wife driving but thought we should give them a ring to ask.

My insurers said it would just go down as a note on my policy as it doesn't match one of the existing codes. It may be taken into account if I commit other speeding offences.

My wife insurers want her to phone the DVLA and get the UK equivalent code for the offence. This to me seems bizarre.

Should we bother telling our insurers?
