Decorator

Thank you for that. What a truly worthwhile contribution. Shall we rewind time and I'll have you come round and do it all for me? I'm quite happy to pay £600 if you spill paint and such, possibly £800 if not

It was in reply too Janesy B, thanks for feeling the need to butt in tho. I was stating that it IS easy if you take your time with it.

Your reason for not doing it yourself is your own, so your little dig is pretty damn pointless, but for someone who spends money on a small room to be painted i wouldn't exspect anything less

I hate decorating and If I could get someone else to do It I would. It's a crap job but my wife seems to think I have the time to do It. :(

all paint should clean off carpets fine, water/spirits depending on type no probs.

bubbling should have been fixed at time while adhesive was still wet, pin ***** in paper, roll out air, done deal, may still be able to get away with that.

I always pay someone to do decorating, I can go into work on overtime and do what I am good at and sue the money to do something they are good at

I am useless at painting anyway

going rate around here is between £60 and £80 a day

Just started decorating parents living room and stairs, wall is about 26 feet, stripped the stairs and landing would cost about £1k for someone to come in and strip and rewallpaper always plastering 30 foot wall and wallpapering.

If it's so easy, why don't you ditch your Tesco job that you loathe so much and become a painter/decorator

I actually have 2 jobs, I do landscaping with a freind of mine when i'm not in Tescos or at college.

I have 2 uncles as painter/ decorators and both are poor as hell, good at their jobs but almost always in financial trouble.

And it's hardly a difficult trade, I decorated my own room when I was 12, repainted celing, hung wallpaper, changed skirting boards, laid the floor.

My grandad gave me a bit of guidance on the wallpapering but it's fairly basic stuff if you ask me, don't know why you'd pay someone £600 to do it.

I used to know painters/decorators who worked in London who were on £35k a year. They were usually big jobs and there were plenty of them, so they had to be quick and supremely top notch in what they did (working for a Property Management company).

I'd say for such an "easy skill" that's a fair amount of money to be earning!!

I'd rather do it myself in a weekend knowing the workmanship is top notch and go spend the remaining bits of the £600 on a really nice bottle of whisky or stick it in the savings. Something like that, seems a tragic waste of £600 to me.
