Hi,
I rent 2 dedicated servers which i sell game servers off (mainly CoD). Whenever i login to Remote Desktop it lags all of the servers quite badly (im on 64k) which annoys customers, i only login when necessary.
Is it possible to prevent this from lagging the servers? Could i use a different program like RAdmin?
Cheers
AMD :)

When i logon to Remote Desktop, it's almost as if the connection speed of the dedicated server goes down to 64k (my speed) when loading images etc from the dedi. The servers lag out for the time that i am loading the picture on the dedi.
Would VNC stop this?
Cheers :)

VNC should do a better job I recommend RealVNC (I don't like TightVNC as much) you can use the demo for 30 days.

Also as a side note only try and access the server when it's inuse, ie use it in the morning.

It's probably the CPU usage that is causing the lag. 64k is not going to make a dent in your bandwidth even if you are on a 10mbit port.

it's not CPU usage. Even when i'm only running one game server on there, it lags A LOT as soon as i log on and when i open folders or anything with images.
I'm pretty sure it's on a 100Mbit port, IPs are 81.19.223.12, 81.19.223.103 and 81.19.223.38 (we have 3 dedis).
Note: When i logon using broadband it lags the server a lot less (compared to when i log on using 64k).

VNC kills some of my servers too.

Try cutting down the quality of data... like knocking the colours down etc.

Nope, it doesn't anti-virus, just the windows firewall.
CPU holds up fine, just bandwith goes right down when i logon using 64k. Like if i'm loading a cod2 server, the picture loads slowly (the pic that first shows up when starting cod2) and while this picture is loading, the game servers are lagged out for the duration.

And you have tried knocking the display settings down to lowest res and minimum colours? (640x480 and 256 colours).

Turn all local resources off including sound?

You could do things via command line, im pretty sure you can setup SSH to work on windows server.

I never get this problem on my linux servers :p
