Mine is a cheapy, basket lifts out of the main dish, heating element and controls lift out of the main bowel and then the main bowel lifts out of the stand and all can be cleaned and emptied without too much fuss

Mine is like this. Only thing I don't like about it is the smell, even fresh oil is pretty smell and if it gets a bit old / burnt then it stinks. I hardly ever use it but for home made chips it is magic.
