Default software on USB Stick

Help, I reformated my PC hardrive whilst I had a 16gb Kingston Datatraveller USB stick plugged in. Now I seem to have wiped off any factory default type software on the stick. I put it in and it doesn't seem to be recognised, won't format to Fat32 etc.

Is there any way this can be recovered and I can use it as a 16gb storage medium again? Please help I feel like crying.

Reformatting the HD will not have done anything to the pendrive, likely the issue is with the OS you've installed. First check in Device Manager that USB services are operating correctly, then check in Disk Management Console that the pendrive is being detected.
 
I accidently deleted it as a partition when re-installing Windows on my sister's pc. Fortunately, when I took it to work I was able to format the stick to FAT32 and it is ok now.

That sounds about right. Don't worry too much about the software it came with, although it might be useful for something (backup most likely) it has no effect on whether the computer will read it or not.

For future reference, right click on the 'my computer' icon in the start menu and choose 'manage'
On the left of the box that comes up, choose 'disk management'
Itll show you everything connected to your computer, and you can reformat whatever you wish from there. Generally if a drive doesnt automatically show up in 'my computer' that's where you want to look.

(same for vista, except my computer is now called computer)
