Default Win7 weird hard drive partitions

You might actually want to hang onto the system reserved partition. I nuked it from my SSD boot drive though. When you install Windows, deleted the primary and extend the system reserved to use the whole drive. It wont let you format but if you reboot with the setup DVD you will then be able to format the entire drive space and install as normal. I'd do the shrink and repartition of the storage space in Windows as the system reserved can sometimes re-appear if you mess around too much at setup.

Backup whatever's on the Backup partition (if necessary), right click on the Backup partition, 'delete volume', right click on the G partition and 'extend volume'.

My system has the same 101MB bit, you've got me wondering why it does that now. Seems there's nothing i can do with it, except create a really small partition.

The partition contains BitLocker, as well as boot repair tools. To be honest with current disk drive sizes (even with SSD) and the size taken up I don’t know why anyone would bother with trying to remove it.
