Hi Guys

I'm currently trying to decide between these two options and could use some of you opinions:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/defc...0ghz-overclocked-bundle-bu-0a8-og.html#t=a2b1

or the

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...ore-i7-8700k-4.9ghz-fs-1bw-og.html#t=a9b3g;i4

  • What pros and cons would there be to getting one over the other in your opinion?
  • How hard exactly are the bundles to install?
  • Do the bundles come with the same warranty if I say, add a new GFX card or more RAM?
  • Does the Buy now Pay later finance only go to £2500 or am I reading it wrong?

Id save around £2-300 getting the bundle as Id still have to buy a 1080ti and a new SSD at a later date.
And as much as I like building new machines, a busy work schedule and the convenience of getting a great full build 'relatively hassle free' (fingers crossed) is slightly more appealing.

However just last year I got this case:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-enthoo-pro-mid-tower-case-with-window-white-ca-016-pt.html

and this PSU

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/supe...us-platinum-power-supply-black-ca-006-sf.html

Which would be a bit of a waste if I got the Germanium full build. But I would have a decent spare PC at hand if needed I suppose, and I'm unsure if the bundle would fit inside that case.

Sorry for the convoluted wall of text, any opinions would be appreciated though thanks guys!

You can save over £200 if you ignore the flashy motherboard and just apply the overclock yourself, which really isn't hard

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £960.06 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Warranty is specific to each part and this doesn't change when building a system, CPUs might have 1 year warranty but very rarely go wrong once installed and you can get GFX cards with 5 years etc.. Head to youtube and just search for a step by step pc build guide to see how incredibly easy it is to build a pc for yourself, and of course if anything ever did go wrong the knowledge is great to do some simple diagnostics. I don't have a clue about the finance but I'm always very wary of buying stuff in such a way, if you are sure you are able to make the repayments I'd rather just wait a few months and be able to buy it outright :).

If you used the above and kept your current case and PSU (which by the way is totally overkill for this build, any single GPU set up would be 550-750w at absolute most) you could add in a 1080ti and a 500GB SSD for £900, so around £1900 total. Remember also OCUK can build any pc, you just have to get a build quote from the customer services forum so don't feel bound to the prebuilt systems on the website. When custom building you just need to remember the price will go up from just the part cost as they will charge to build it and I assume you'll need windows etc.

Last thoughts, that case on the Germanium is one of the best looking cases around, but as usual that does slightly hinder the airflow, but with a water cooler it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Tom!

Yea they look pretty much the same specs as what I was getting, I only really want a motherboard thats stable and has is lots of USB power as I connect a lot of instruments and music gear.
I did look at OC did general custom builds too but not sure how to select a CoffeLake one . I'll take another look.
Yea I forgot why I got that OT PSU!? I think maybe as I got a Vive and was worried about power!?
I too hate doing finance so I may save and wait till new year.

Cheers!

It's not on the website for the custom builds, you could just take a full list of parts and post in the pre sales queries forum, and they would quote for a build price. Harder if you wanted them to use your case and PSU, but I would encourage you to watch some videos on how to build a pc step by step as it is surprisingly easy when following a guide. If you wait a month or two, the price of current gen coffee lake is only likely to go down as more supply enters the chain and there is less demand, so hold off if possible IMO.
