Defense Grid

I generally use a combination of gun towers, temporals, cannons and infernos. Every now and then I will throw a meteor or a laser in there.

The leaderboard is back up now after being down due to the steam sale and the influx of new players it brought. The way to get high scores is to bank as much interest as possible without them getting to the cores. You can overbuild which means you wont lose cores but you will gain less interest.

Added. Its just a case of clicking on leaderboard next to medals. Give it a few secs to load though as it's under heavy load atm.

I forgot command towers and yeah I useually like to have a large kill zone covered with one. Pretty much the only thing I will never use is the tesla.

Any of the later levels could be done easily with only gun towers. I couldn't imagine having too much of a problem not losing any cores. The score you would get would be poor though.

Ooh, you're quite determined, aren't you? Try getting Gold on The Long Descent.

Just had a go, using only guns and temps, and got Silver. You might be able to squeeze Gold with optimal tower timing. Try it and see.

Got the gold with a score of 31510, 10 points over :D

The way to get a high score is to build lean, whatever you don't spend (or spend as late as possible) earns you interest which then earns you more interest. How many cores you have a hold of dictates what percentage of possible interest you will earn.

If you build a load of towers and they never even get close to the cores then the chances are you will be earning interest on a very small amount.

I was playing the last level yesterday and trying to break into the top 100. My previous best was around 125,000, I ended up on 135,00 or something by trying to bag as much interest as possible. Towards the end I was getting something like 1000 interest per second. With this kind of cash you can spend lots on defense towards the end but you have to save to get there.

If you are earning big interest then it pays you to keep a hold of all cores. If you are earning interest on very little then it doesn't matter if they have the cores for a while.

Hope this helps.

Anyone got any advice for the 2nd DLC map? Really struggling with it for some reason :( I get to the first wave of boss aliens perfectly and then it goes downhill incredibly rapidly :/

Try a mixture of gun towers, lasers, cannons and a temporal along the 2 middle rows. Towards the end make them walk back the way they came by switching one of the towers at the start of their path with one from the end of their path, they don't like that.

I think that's more than I paid for the whole game :/

Might get it in the future if I get bored, are the levels/game modes any good?

They have me puzzled but then I'm very much in Sol Survivor mode. Played the 1st map and beat it with a silver medal.....I was disgusted with myself!!!

I bought this game on release because the trailer looked that good lol (cost £5) best thing ive bought off steam, GTA:LC, UT3 and the Orange box havent provided as much hours of fun lol

Easy, Grinder levels where you can use Concussion towers are EZ mode

One of the promises on release was multilayer mode added through DLC, this has yet to materialise

Same here, almost 450 hours played. Just finished the new maps last night and found them very easy.

The devs have said that there will be no multiplayer added sadly.

Sol survivor has a multiplaer side to it which I highly recommend and can be had in the sale for £4. The game is well worth getting but don't bother with the demo, it's pants and a bad indication of how good the game is.
