^ Defiance ^ - MMoTPS

My download has been going since 4pm and said it would take 4 hours.
Now it's going weird, it's downloading more than my friends have (I have 12.6GB and they have 10.4GB and can play).

Still says 2.5hrs left at almost 1MB/s, so either I'm going to have a messed up install or I should start again, argh!

Edit:
It seems the patcher downloaded the WAD content directory into the base folder and into the temp folder, doubling the size of the space required then deleting it once install was complete.
So it downloaded it twice, inefficient. Well it works now.

It's the same in most games to be honest, i've not had one game in the last year that has had big issues or smaller annoying ones fixed for release.

It see this as a "wait and see" type of MMO, lots of issues at the start, need to wait awhile for things to be sorted if at all.

If they treat it like they did with Rift then they will be trying to fix them ASAP. I was very surprised when playing Rift, it is one of the main reasons it has been the only successful MMO since WoW in regard to still having subs.

I doubt that the Rift team will be working on Defiance, but yeah if they can keep the same level of quality in Defiance as they do in Rift then everything will turn out fine. Even with the issues I still find the game fun to play. It's very close to Borderlands though and in some respects it just seems a straight forward copy / paste.

I doubt it as well, but they must know that Rift has lasted as long as it has due to the team being on top of it. So if they got the Defiance team doing the same, we have nothing to worry about at all.

Yeah it's got that Borderlands feels to it but is obviously more than a copy paste due to the Co-Op, PvP and Rift like battles. It's more like an evolved love child than a copy.

It's more than the feel really, some things just seem like they are ripped straight from the game. I guess though that since some people that worked on Borderlands are part of the team that made this game then it's too be expected. It's not an overly bad thing but after playing Rift for ages and Borderlands 1 and 2 for well over 200 hours, I can't help but feel I've played it all before.

Still, it's a new game, and can only get better. I just hope they pick a path that allows the game to be fresh rather than just recycling old ideas from either their games or other peoples games.
 
Enjoying this so far, even if I did pick the wrong EGO power...damn...got all my pre-order bonus's from Steam and then the 120 codes for the EGO website, so I have a few vehicles and guns to help me also...gone for Veteran, but not sure how each of the 4 'classes' or 2 'races' varies...
 
Its not bad actually, needs some tweaks to the comms and maybe the groups, but overall its quite enjoyable, im still running around like a headless chicken not sure what to do or where to go, on a more upbeat note, i missed out on the pre-order bonus items, or so i thought, when i bought from GMG it gave me the items anyway, only just noticed that today when i found the store.

You can change it later. I started with stealth but found myself never using it. Got overcharge now though.

The veteran, outlaw, machinist, survivalist thing is called origins, they change nothing apart from the gun/outfit at the start of the game and a tiny bit of background info for your character. Race doesn't change anything either afaik.

I worked out how to change it, gone from 'Blur' to 'Decoy' as my guy uses an Assault Rifle, so having melee wasn't much point. I look like a badass with Nolan's outfit and Outlander headgear :D
 
Hmm, after getting within half an hour of having it downloaded last night, it appears to be downloading the whole thing again today. 4 hours to go :rolleyes:
