^ Defiance ^ - MMoTPS

So guys who have been in alpha/beta, what is the game like? I have a interest in it, but due to its affiliation with a tv program (what happens if it gets cancelled?!) I am a bit...skepitcal! How does the game play? Pro/cons about gameplay, mechanics, how questing works etc.

what do you mean? if the tv show gets canceled then you play the game.. tv show is only for lore really, it doesnt impact the game too much afaik. But questing is similar to other mmos, go here kill these fix this go back etc etc, but with guns. PvP is amazing though. Try beta friday?

Tune, is there somewhere to preload the files from ? Also how large is the download, if anyone knows?

Im up for playing this weekend but not if they give me a download link on the 22nd for a 10GB download. Would take me all weeekend just to download!

The game happens before the TV show, there isnt much crossover but there is a story ark in the game, involving the 2 main TV characters, which links to the pilot TV episode. Beyond that, there isnt much.

I thought the crossover was going to be one of the main aspects between the TV show and the game? I might have misunderstood it, but what I had gathered was that the game would impact the show and vice versa (such as the show taking a different turn if players fail to defend a city from an attack).

Nah the game doesnt influence the TV show at all, if anything it will be the other way around post launch.

TV shows are often recorded 6-8 weeks in advance of them being aired, imagine how fast the turn around would have to be if an in game event decided the plot of a TV episode haha.

It just wouldnt work, cool idea though.

It's not showing up at the minute, i'll give it 24 hours for an e-mail allowing client access, if not, i wont bother:( not worth my time downloading a beta on the day of its release, by the time the download finishes on my crud net the beta will be over.

what the heck, i dont have a "defiance beta" thing on my menu only "defiance".

I got a beta key from MMORPG.com on monday and have successfully added it to my Trion worlds account....odd.

Mine's doing the same thing. Set the client downloading this morning so hopefully I'll be able to get logged in when it's done :p

They're supposed to affect each other but i imagine that won't be until season 2 for the reasons you've written (if Syfy don't cancel it). They started filming season 1 in April last year so it's probably all been done now.

"The performance of the MMO players will affect the storylines of the TV show and all those involved will be satisfied with the mix between story focus and interaction with the audience."

Oh dear NZB,

I cannot see that working at all im afraid, the first season looks like it's already set in stone, so i'll give that a chance. But the idea that the game affects the TV show sounds far too ambitious, sounds cool but i can see the 2nd season (if there is one) being pants because of this idea :(

On a brighter note i received my beta invite at 2am this morning, better 2am than never i suppose.
