Well the double episode pilot has aired and...... it's not as bad as expected. Dodgy cgi in places, good cgi in others.

Story looks like a Deadwood/Banshee hybrid with extra aliens.

Going to need to give it a couple of weeks to get a better idea of it.

It airs the following day, which is no different to Game of Thrones - and we have two threads about that in this subforum alone


I thought it was interesting. It was obviously quite a simplified story, drawing on a few common cliches. But it certainly wasn't 'awful' in a Terra Nova kind of way.

I'll keep watching and see how it develops. It has some potential...

I thought that from the trailers but didn't get that feeling from the pilot unfortunately.

Really wasn't impressed with it and seems like it will just be a run of the mill show rather than anything special. It's sci-fi though and i'll give anything in that genre a chance so i'll give it another episode or two to see if the characters and story can draw me in, but it's looking doubtful.

Its the sets/costumes that give it a firefly vibe , certainly NOT in the same league as Firefly tho

Well that episode was a bit better, although I think it was mostly due to the lack of dodgy CGI and no scaffolding lines.

defiance has been renew for a second season 13 episode run. Season two will begin production in Toronto in August and will premiere in 2014.
