Hipster as has been said was mainly a jazz thing, or at least that is what I would have understood it as. Unless they just mean you jump on the most recent bandwagon trying to be "hip"

In a seriousness, my definition is pretty close to a certain video on YouTube that I can't to link because of the title is a swearword ("being a male genitalia's cool").

The definition's implied

. I'd say it's basically someone who considers something to be of value only when the majority of people are unaware or able to enjoy/appreciate it, even if it's actually quite terrible.

Then if it gains 'large scale' appreciation, then it loses value to a hipster. Hence 'you've probably never heard of it'
