Im using executive diskeeper to defrag my drive

it defrags it fine and the pc seems speedy but it says my mft is 99% fragmented and i should increase it,

so i do as it says and it starts to pad the mft after around 45 minutes says frag sheild error cant remember exactly ?

any other way to do this software etc ? and would you reccomend a boot up time defrag could that do it ?

what is a mft and is it something to be worreid about ?

The MFT is the Master File Table and is important to the healthy functioning of your filesystem. If you want to defrag this then I think you have to schedule a boot time defrag. The MFT is in use when you are using Windows so cannot be altered.

Also, it shouldn't take 45 minutes to pad out the MFT :|

thats how long it took in windows it wanted to increase the size loads just done a boot time one and ill see what results are

I would actually recommend you try using PerfectDisk 7.0 as a defragger. I used to use that Diskeeper, but after I made the switch it seems to be that bit more responsive. Also, if you dont already use it, PC Tools 6 is also good for the system. After using those 2 programs I noticed a big speed increase, so well worth it.
