Dein leaves with immediate effect

Was just coming here to post the same, seems strange - I thought he was Mr Arsenal. Although I hear his name all the time, must have his fingers in a lot of pies.

It'll be down to the sunny weather we're currently having, he's just off back to Transylvania to lie down for a while. He'll be back, when it's dark.

lol

But please explain why Carlos Queiroz can tolerate sunlight?

Bit of a surprise! As has been said he seemed to be Mr Arsenal whenever anything to do with Arsenal business wise it was always him in the media spotlight which I never really got seeing as he isn't the chairman only vice chairman.

Is he still a big wig in the FA or did he jack that in?

Always seemed a pretty savvy bloke so presume there's something big going on behind the scenes for him to pack this in when he's been there for years.

Supposidly he was in favour of selling up to the American's, where as the rest of the board were against it.

And he's no longer with the FA.

He left a while back.

I get the feeling he wanted to sell up, and the other major share holders didn't.

It will be interesting to see who will become the new chairman as I expect Dein to take over shortly, as Hill-Wood isn't exactly young. Dein was great for English football, he got us the likes of Wenger and Bergkamp.

Thanks Tango man.

Massive mistake by arsenal board, they should all leave and let Dein and the Americans take control!

From what I've heard Dein wanted outside money so Arsenal could compete with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United financially.
Dein like Moore at Liverpool was willing to self sacrifice and sell his shares etc to the americans for the better of the club whereas the other boards members wanted to keep ahold of Arsenal especially with the new stadium.

Maybe this is just fantasy making out Dein as a perfect being but it seems the most likely he's a big Arsenal man.

He's always had Arsenal interests at heart especially where his involvments with the FA were concerned

Well that's a bit of a shock, I thought he'd be there until he pops his clogs, like the Hill-Woods.

I'm not surprised the rest of the board want to keep things in-house, it's been a bit of a closed shop for generations and Dein wanted to bring us on to the 21st Century and to compete with the very best.

Not sure what to make of it at the moment, no doubt there will be some announcement pretty soon, although I'm not sure how I feel about being taken over either, it's just not the way we've operated throughout our history.

Stupidest statement ever on bbc site:

"It's surely too early to judge the long term effects of Dein's departure"

Supposedly Tony Blair is resigning in a couple of weeks - rumour has it Dein isn't content with just running world football, he wants to run the country too! :)

bit shocking when I saw it flashed up on Channel 4 news

hopefully Arsenal will not get bought by someone :(

think Bergkamp was bought in by Bruce Rioch though not Dein
