I've heard that using a car fitted with a D.P.F. to frequently do short trips is a recipe for disaster?

Is this still the case, or have they got better?

EDIT: I know, why a deisel then. It needs to be something without a clutch pedal, they only offer a 5 speed manual on Petrol models.

I only really use my diesel 5-series for short journeys during the week, so I make sure to take it down the motorway at the weekend.

When I do this, I can feel the DPF regenerating so I'm hoping it doesn't get clogged up any time soon.

This is a 2005 car, not sure if they've got better since then.
