Hey guys,

I have had the Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P motherboard for a year now. Since as far as I can remember, the system posts (with beeps), then there is a 1 min delay (with that ultra durable screen) before windows is allowed to boot.

This only happens when you boot up when the computer is off, there is no delay booting up when restarting etc. I'm using the F7 bios but all bioses seem to do the same thing.

I'm also getting the "Hard Disk Boot Failure Insert System Disk Press Enter" error recently every now and then as well. I have one 500 gb hard drive and one optical drive. Restarting usually allows me to boot into windows fine.

Any Ideas?

Any ideas??

Have you enabled the quick boot option?
Also you could disable the ultra durable screen so you can see what stage of the boot process is taking so long.
Although as Orcvader sugests seems drive related.
Both options should be in the boot section of the bios.

Thanks for the reply guys:

How do you enable quick boot in the bios, can't find it anywhere?

I disabled the gigabyte splash screen and the delay seems to be in detecting IDE harddrives. I only have one SATA drive:confused: ????

I will try HD tune now

Try disabling the IDE connections in the BIOS. (Not sure if you can do this on Gigabyte boards, but you could on my old Asus).

I have consistently calculated the delay to be around 45 seconds so I'm not sure what the problem is. I will give your suggestion a go.

Edit: Disabled IDE and still that 45 second delay remains.

yes, Its the F7 Bios one below the latest as the latets is for the 6 core AMD processors.

I have changed the cables around at the SATA ports and now there is a 45 second delay before anything is displayed, the graphics card fan is a at max for that period, then the display comes on, then the POST beep.

SO basically the same symptoms but before the POST beep!
