Just read from another site:

As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Wii Component AV Cable has changed to 22-Dec-2006. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control.

soo annoying !! makes it a bit pointless using the Wii til i get the cable really esp/ on my HDTV :(

There isnt actually any confirmed news on this, its only one retailer that has stated its delayed, a lot of other retailers are confirming they will have it for launch.

I think the Wii will look cack on my 2407 through composite!

I don't think there's a high chance of getting it through importers like *competitor!* either, the component cable is one of the most viewed things in the Wii section!

Nintendo must've grossly underestimated the amount of people with HDTV's.

Had mine pre-ordered for a while but the shop in question has taken it down. No item entry!? Can't even pre-order it anymore! Very strange indeed. I just hope the release of the cable isn't pushed back. I really don't want to be playing Zelda through composite. :(

480p isnt even close to being playable on a 24" LCD, it be like watching an early PS1 game :(

where did you get that from? considering the PS1 used just over half the resolution of 480p (and interlaced too!)

I've been playing Zelda:OoT on the GC over Composite on my 26" LCD and it's very playable. (Not as good as CRT, and would be much better if I had component - waiting for the Wii for that!).

I'm assuming that's a PC monitor in which case it's no suprise since they don't generally need to do much in the way of scaling, an LCD TV would do a much better job.

Sorry im talking PC monitor, im sure an LCD TV will look fine

This sucks. As much as I rate Nintendo, they've always shafted europe. For the first time in years I decided to go for a PAL console and, rather unsuprisingly, find myself holding my ankles and trying desperately to go to my happy place. Not only this, but the Golf game I wanted isn't coming to europe either.

Once again Nintendo lay the smacketh down and pwn us all! /o\

I'll probably stick with Composite for the first couple of months, my LCD seems to do some magic with it on the Gamecube, you have to look close to see the difference between Component, the colours are spot on, progressive isnt needed either.

Gamespot has some comparisons between Composite and Component, you can tell the difference (especially with Zelda). Would probably become a recommended purchase for people who have a decent TV.

Hmm it's now changed back to the 8th on that site, very odd!

Aye, just had an email through. As long as I have component by Xmas I'll be chuffed. More likely to be playing Wii downstairs (non-HD) to start with, then on the HD upstairs once it's settled down and I can get into the nitty gritty :D

On the contrary, decent TVs seem to actually display Composite better than the old days, Ive done tests on my Samsung, Component is only 1 notch up over Composite with the Gamecube, there isnt physicaly room to fit in another quality picture in between the two, the colours are virtually the same, this is a far cry from people saying Composite = 2/10 Component = 10/10, there is already people talking about not buying the Wii if no component cables are available, which is absolutely ludicrous.

Each TV converts the different signals by use of the electronics, signals can also be getting converted twice, and not all TVs are equal.
Some people are importing the Component cable at 20% the cost of the Wii, on my TV the difference isnt worth it. Some LCDs also process an interlaced signal, so some people are also going to find 480p no different.

This is true. Do you have an NTSC GC then?

I've got a Samsung HD CRT, so I'm hoping that the difference won't be too huge to make baby Jesus cry (with it being a CRT still after all...), but enough to justify a component connection. :)

Undoubtedly the Wii will look hideous on composite on some LCDs... It's beyond me that they've not included RGB from scratch though.
