I don't think that my TV has HDMI out, so that'll be why I can't get what I want! Bah.

I just bought a Onkyo TX-NR616 and two Tannoy V4s.

I've got it setup so I can have my PCs audio through the amp & speakers but I'm unable to get my TV (LG LD450) through the amp, the audio is only coming out of the TVs built in speaker.

I've connected a HDMI cable from the back of the telly into the amp where the TV should go, and when I select HDMI 1 (or 2) I just get the Onkyo screen.

What do I need to do in order to get the Freeview audio through the amp? I thought I could do it with a HDMI cable but that doesn't seem to work. Am I being thick?

You need an optical cable.

Couple of quid.

You don't need HDMI out. Do TV's even have this? That's an amp feature.

Tannoy is the brand name of the loud speaker system!

You need either an amp with hdmi stuff or the cheap audio cable.

can anyone tell me why i can't get sound through my tv from my pc while we're on the subject?

i can listen through headphones and have selected the correct option in control panel but it doesn't work.

As said above. You need an optical cable from the TV to the AMP.
