Replacing the boiler is normally quite a difference in price from repairing your current one. But.. The 24i was an inexpensive boiler to start with and not that good, so spending money on it ain't gonna change that, and as it gets older the more likely it is to fail. Modern boilers perform better, waste less gas, and a modern Worcester comes with 7yr warranty.

So if you have the money to do it then it's a sound investment, if not then keep it maintained to give it the best chance of lasting longer.

How old is it? 10 years is a good life for a boiler these days and usually less according to the fitters, unlike when I was a lad they were made of cast iron and lasted forever. Built in obsolescence seems to be the norm nowadays.

Depends if it has broken down before and how much repairs are costing before I would replace it. Also I wouldn't replace an old working G-rated boiler for an A-rated energy efficient one either, as you wouldn't break even on the gas savings until it was time to change again.

Cant you DIY the old one out fit the new one and just get a CORGI registered to do the odd bit of piping hear and there.

My Worcester must be 7-8 years old and it is fine,
descaling and fixing a fan is nothing, get it sorted.

Replacing it with much the same condensing technology for what, £900? is just a waste of money

the newer modern boilers might be worse for reliability, cant beat the older ones imo

ours is terrible, the pcb has been replaced three times already, keeps burning out

Exactly why would you consider spending £900 when you could spend £100 the new boiler will be insignificantly more efficient so you will never ever save the money back.
