You don't need 600W watts of power unless you're using SLI. 480W will be more than enough, but for the warranty and silence I'd get a Corsair 520W.

620W and 700W PSUs are overkill, I don't know why people spec them for systems without SLI. :confused:

Spend more on a monitor instead.
 
p4radox please explain to me about the wattage of PSU`s. Whats the important specs you have to look for in PSU`s?

Didn't think 520 would be enough but i trust you. :)

So what does the wattage of PSU`s actually stand for?

true I could have gone for a slightly smaller psu but I was thinking long term and if the client of the op required an add in card at any time there should be enough power still. It may still be a bit overkill though :)

The current ratings on the individual rails, and the number of rails are the important specs to look for. The power rating of the PSU is still the best indicator of its performance.

This gives a good indication of the power required, people are often surprised how little power their rig needs compared to what they've been led to believe:

why 4x 1GB sticks which cost 173.98 (+VAT) when for £139.99 (+VAT) you can get these ocz 2x2GB packs giving the option for a cheaper upgrade later on.

iirc the speed of the ram isnt quite so big an issue with the c2d/c2q chips.
 
yeah 520w version will be fine.

not sure i'd bother clocking it yet, especially as its for a customer, any issues then you'll need to rule out the overclock first, if they complain of it being slow in the future then maybe think about it.
